Austin city ordinance requiring rest breaks for construction workers imposes criminal and civil penalties

Ordinance No. 20100729-047 requires rest breaks of 10 minutes for every 4 hours worked for workers at construction sites.  The ordinance also includes record-keeping requirements and sign posting requirements.  Violators can be fined $100-$500 per day and can be charged with a Class C misdemeanor.
